Biography

Telford’s Lady Fortune formed in 2004. Within a year and a half of forming they had played all over the country, gaining fans and losing jobs and members as they went along. As well as this they had found a label to release their first single. Their first single, 'Mr Brown', was recorded in March 2006 for the label 1965 Records (The View, Ripchord). The band were told due to the label’s success with The View’s album that the release was to be put back, and put back, and then put back some more. In stepped up and coming label Wanderlust Records. 'Mr Brown' was finally released in September 2007. It confirmed all of the wonderful things we’ve always loved from the band, and received a variety of great reviews and received airplay on Radio One courtesy of Steve Lamacq.

After going on a small UK tour to promote 'Mr Brown', the band headed back into the studio to record their second single with renowned producer Brian O'Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine). '12 o'clock, Nearly 1 o'clock, Hurry Up' backed by 'Tigers', was released on This Is Fake Diy Records in December. Along with the release came more touring, more great reviews and even more airplay on Radio One and 6Music. '12 o'clock, Nearly 1 o'clock, Hurry Up' also made the Topshop in store play list and was played across the country throughout January.

In January 2008 Lady Fortune recorded their first album, again with Brian O'Shaughnessy for Magnetic Records of Japan. The album is set to be released in Japan in spring/summer of this year and is entitled 'Manners Darling'.

With an exceptional range of influences already drilled inside each members head, from The Smiths to The Strokes and The Beatles to Belle and Sebastian this is the perfect example of a band who know what they want and where they’re going musically.

Lady Fortune have been in very good company on stages around the country having played with: The Automatic, The Pigeon Detectives, The Paddingtons, Bromheads Jacket, The Young Knives, The Rumble Strips to name but a few.
